HanBuddy Buddy Commission and Settlement Policy

Version 2026-10-08

This policy applies to activity sales proceeds, platform fees, cancellations, refunds and settlements for Buddies providing activities on HanBuddy.

For the earlier revision of the Terms of Service, Buddy Operating Terms and Buddy Commission and Settlement Policy, the effective date is 2026-10-06 Korea Standard Time (KST). The document version identifies the revised wording and is distinct from the effective date. Advance notice of fee changes, protection for confirmed bookings and the amendment procedures in the Terms of Service continue to apply.

The application date and transitional arrangements for the proposed cancellation amendment remain to be determined separately. Neither the document version nor the effective date of the earlier revision establishes the effective date or retroactive application of this proposed cancellation amendment.

1. Commission Rates

  1. The total standard platform fee is 20% of actual sales, including VAT and payment-processing fees.
  2. Approved Early Buddies receive a permanent total rate of 15%, including VAT and payment-processing fees.
  3. VAT and payment-processing fees included in these totals are not deducted separately. Withholding, refunds and adjustments to amounts already paid are separate from platform fees.
  4. The applicable total fee rate and the VAT included in that total must be separately identifiable in settlement screens or notices before a Buddy lists an activity or accepts a booking.
  5. Fee-rate changes are announced 30 days before taking effect. Bookings confirmed before the change use the rate applicable at payment. If VAT law changes, the amended statutory rate applies.

New applicants who complete Buddy onboarding and their application by 2026-11-30 Korea Standard Time (KST) receive the permanent Early Buddy rate after review and approval. Approval in December or later does not disqualify applicants who completed their application by the deadline. This is the deadline for new applications, not the expiry of the discount. Completing an application does not automatically approve an activity.

2. Calculation Basis

  1. “Actual sales” is the portion allocated to the activity of the amount the Tourist actually paid after coupons, promotions and discounts.

  2. Company-funded discounts may be added back before fee calculation if separate promotion conditions provide for this. Buddy-funded discounts use the discounted amount.

  3. For completed bookings, the total platform fee and expected settlement are calculated as follows:

Total platform fee = Actual sales × Applicable total fee rate

Expected settlement = Actual sales − Total platform fee − Separate settlement deductions and adjustments

VAT included in the total fee is not an additional deduction. Where the statutory VAT rate is 10%, the fee excluding VAT is the total platform fee ÷ 1.1, and included VAT is the total platform fee minus that amount. Separate deductions and adjustments require a basis, such as statutory withholding, refunds and cancellation fees under this policy, or adjustments to amounts already paid; the calculation basis is disclosed. Advance notice does not permit duplicate deductions of VAT or payment-processing fees.

  4. Settlement statements separately identify each booking’s actual sales, discounts, fee rate, fee excluding VAT, VAT, total deductions, refunds, adjustments and final payout.

3. Cancellations and Refunds

  1. Amounts fully refunded for statutory withdrawal, Buddy or Company fault, or general cancellation generate no platform fee, VAT on that fee or Buddy compensation.
  2. For a general Tourist cancellation with a 50% refund, fees, VAT and Buddy settlement are calculated from the remaining 50% of actual sales retained by the Company.
  3. For non-refundable general cancellations or no-shows, calculation uses the full actual sales amount.
  4. Partial refunds caused by Buddy fault use the remaining amount after refund. No Buddy compensation is paid for fully refunded bookings.
  5. For cancellation of a confirmed booking attributable to the Buddy, the Company may impose a cancellation fee of 20% of that booking’s actual payment amount regardless of the time remaining before the activity. The sanctions and exemption criteria for unavoidable reasons follow Article 4 of the Buddy Operating Terms. A Buddy no-show may incur a separate 20% cancellation fee in addition to the full refund.
  6. Refunds advanced by the Company and cancellation fees owed by the Buddy may be offset against pending settlements. If insufficient, the Company explains the calculation and payment method in writing.

4. Settlement Schedule and Payment

  1. Activities completed in a month are closed for settlement on that month’s last calendar day. The Company transfers payment to the Buddy’s registered settlement account in their own name by the 5th business day of the following month.
  2. Bank holidays are excluded when counting business days. This is the transfer deadline; the time funds actually reach the account may vary with bank processing.
  3. Account errors, incomplete identity verification, missing tax information or banking failures may delay settlement. The Company explains the reason and required action.
  4. Buddies may dispute a settlement within 14 days of receiving the statement. Clear calculation errors or statutory rights are reviewed even after this period.

5. Settlement Holds and Adjustments

Only affected amounts may be held for as long as necessary for:

  • Pending cancellations, refunds, chargebacks or payment disputes.
  • Reasonably suspected fraud, fake bookings, identity theft or Terms violations.
  • Verification of activity provision or settlement account ownership.
  • Applicable law or a lawful authority request.

The Company informs the Buddy of the reason, amount and release requirements. Unrelated confirmed amounts are not indiscriminately withheld.

6. Taxes and Supporting Documents

  1. Buddies report income and pay taxes under applicable law.
  2. VAT on platform fees taxes the platform service supplied by the Company to the Buddy. It is distinct from income tax, VAT or other taxes on the Buddy’s activity sales.
  3. Business registration, tax status, income type and the actual supply, contract and collection arrangements determine the required tax invoices, invoices, receipts or other documents and who issues and receives them. The Company and Buddy each fulfill their statutory documentation duties. Tax invoices do not follow one unconditional issuing direction for all transactions. Whether withholding applies and at what rate depends on statutory conditions, including income type and the actual transaction; a single rate does not apply to every person without business registration. The Company fulfills legally required withholding, remittance of withheld taxes and payment-statement filing, and may request necessary tax information. The Buddy’s reporting and tax responsibilities do not remove the Company’s statutory duties.
  4. Buddies must keep settlement account and tax information accurate.

7. Settlement after Termination

Confirmed settlements for completed activities are paid even after account closure or termination of Buddy status. Amounts related to unresolved refunds, chargebacks, damages or statutory retention duties may be held until finalized.
